maureen and i just came back from radiohead at apline valley. superb. highlights:
– a taut set with jonny greenwood running white-hot
– a stage backdrop that looked like the inside of a toaster
– a crowd of thousands and thousands of people and not a single hostile
– the planet mars clearly visible to the naked eye hovering right over the stage (next appearance: the year 62,003)
– maureen and i were deemed “cute” in the parking lot by a random ticketholder some years our junior
– just a goddamned great time
the lowlights:
– instead of a qualified technician, the video screens were seemingly being controlled by a basket of puppies
– the sound was nowhere near as good as the show at grant park last year
– enough with the lowlights, it was a goddamned great time
