Imagine Chalmers Johnson wielding a Mexican Telecaster…
In the tradition of Suicide (the band, not the act) and Neurosis (the condition, not the band) fledgling vinyl label Unicut Records has released the debut 7″ by my band Sirs. Referring to the label and the band separately is pretty stupid, since the label and the band are composed of the same two idiots. But anyone who knows me knows also that I never let a little stupid get in my way.
Unicut is in talks (really) with recording artists near and far toward assembling a release schedule through ‘09 - all on beautiful vinyl, and all to capitalize off of recent trends in the headlines. Finger on the pulse or what? Eh? Eh?
Something else that sounds like bullshit but isn’t: these songs were recorded at Unicut HQ in Chicago’s historic Deagan Building, where in 1921 the US musical instruments industry settled on a universal value of 440 Hz for the note “A”. That worked out pretty well. So we’ve got that going for us, as Carl from Caddyshack might say.
See you on the road.
You’re going to make me hook my turntable up? Bastard.
Best of luck printing glorious slightly-more-than-half-foot wide slabs of wax
Long time no see, matey. Good to see you active in musicland.
So where are you getting the wax pressed? That’s the real burning question. some of us are also looking around to see where one might invest some fundage as a tax write-off scheme. Rerecording some old tracks I did many moons ago and plopping them out there on vinyl is a good a plan as any, I personally will be owing the IRS a decent chunk per quarter this year unless I can find a “business expense” to drop it into soon. Read–making people mildly amused by childish attempts to lash chords together with ranty, situationist-inspired drivel.
Any ideas?
Hey Joe - what’s up in yr neck of the woods?
We did the vinyl at United, the same place mentioned in the CNN piece. I think they’re unitedrecordspressing.com…
The lady with the clue there is named “Dat”. I can’t handle that kind of irony this early in the morning, but there it is. She’s been doing this for a loooong time.
Good luck amigo

In light of your recent 7″ I should warn you about this:

It’s my little contribution to the wax preservation society. Vinyl forever. And ever. And ever.
